Residents of Bahwin, Newaken, Dougbo and Gblebo, have welcomed the arrival of 15 pieces of yellow earth-moving equipment in Grand Kru County.
Some of them described the development as a major step to address the county’s long-standing road, and infrastructure challenges.
The residents say, the arrival of the heavy-duty machines represents more than just new equipment, but offers renewed hope to communities that have struggled for years with deplorable roads, difficult transportation, and limited access to markets, schools, health facilities, and other essential services.
For residents, the machines are viewed as a tangible sign that government’s development agenda is beginning to reach areas that have historically remained underserved.
Several of the locals expressed appreciation to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, and his administration, saying: “the deployment of the equipment could significantly transform road connectivity, and improve movement in Grand Kru.”
They however, spoke of how quickly, and effectively the machines will be deployed to communities most in need.
Residents have meanwhile, called on the government to ensure that the equipment are properly maintained, transparently managed, and equitably distributed across the county.
The arrival of the 15 yellow machines has generated optimism among citizens, with many hoping that the equipment will translate into improved roads, easier transportation, and greater economic opportunities for ordinary people.
For communities such as Bahwin, Newaken, Dougbo, and Gblebo, residents say, they are ready to see the machines move from the main roads into the communities where poor road conditions have remained a daily burden.
“The machines have arrived; now the people want to see the roads being fixed.” That, residents say, is the expectation behind their praise of the Boakai government.
