Bong County Electoral District # 7 Representative Foday E. Fahnbulleh, has launched a renewed road safety push to reduce deaths and injuries involving commercial motorbike riders.

Fahnbulleh has responded to the growing concerns over increasing motorcycle-related accidents in the district.  The initiative followed a high-level engagement with members of the Motorbike Riders Association, where discussions focused on improving road discipline, enforcing traffic awareness, and addressing the rising number of crashes reported in communities.

Rep. Fahnbulleh expressed concern over “preventable accidents” occurring on daily basis, saying that many of the incidents are linked to reckless riding, speeding, and failure to observe basic traffic regulations. He warned that unless urgent behavioral change is embraced by riders, the district risks losing lives in “avoidable road accidents.”

Fahnbulleh said, motorbike transport remains essential to the movement of people and goods, but safety must be prioritized to protect both riders and passengers.

As part of the new intervention, he announced plans for a district-wide road safety workshop that will bring together riders, traffic authorities, and community leaders to strengthen education on road use, safety compliance, and accident prevention.

The program is expected to focus on practical training designed to improve rider awareness and reduce risky behavior on the roads.

In addition, Rep. Fahnbulleh donated over 300 reflective raincoats to members of the Motorbike Riders Association.

He described the gesture as a practical step to improve visibility during poor weather conditions and night travel.

He said, improved visibility remains one of the simplest, but most effective ways to prevent collisions.

Fahnbulleh further urged riders to wear helmets consistently, respect speed limits, and avoid reckless overtaking, adding that road safety is a shared responsibility that requires discipline from all users.

Riders at the meeting welcomed the initiative. They noted that it will help reduce accidents and improve professionalism within the transport sector.

Rep. Fahnbulleh meanwhile, reaffirmed his commitment to support community-driven safety programs, and strengthen transportation safety.
