The County Education Authorities of River Gee have celebrated a major academic milestone after 303 students from seven high schools successfully passed the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The County Education Officer, Jallah Sammy, made the announcement.
Sammy commended students, parents, teachers, and school administrators for “a result of collective hard work, discipline, and commitment.”
The 303 successful candidates came from all seven high schools that wrote the exams, including 97 from Gbeapo Multilateral High School, 87 from Tweh Jaiklay High School, 41 from Fish Town Community Senior High School, and the 30 from Kelvin Sories Senior High School.
Others were Flanagan United Methodist High School, 23, Reverend Henry T. Kear Senior High School, 14, and Webbo Central High School, 11.
Sammy described the performance as one of the strongest WASSCE outcomes recorded in River Gee during his administration, and a sign that ongoing education reforms are yielding results.
Beyond student performance, Sammy highlighted efforts to improve teacher quality.
He also reaffirmed the Ministry of Education’s free tuition, and registration policy for all public schools.
With graduation ceremonies approaching, the 303 WASSCE successes have brought renewed optimism to River Gee’s education sector.
Education authorities have meanwhile called for continued collaboration among students, parents, teachers, and school leaders to sustain the momentum, and improve results further in 2027.
