3 Lawmakers Suspended
The leadership of the opposition Alternative National Congress (ANC) said, it has suspended three of her sitting representatives and the party’s vice chair for finance and investment for six months.
Those suspended, according to the party secretariat, are Representatives Anthony Williams, Nathaniel Bahway, and Nyahn Flomo. The lawmakers were suspended along with Fubbi Henries, the party national vice chair for finance and investment.
“ANC wishes to inform the public and all partisans that those representatives have been officially suspended from the party for a period of six months.”
The party did not provide further information and punishments, but said: “this decision was reached in accordance with Article 24, Section 5 and Article 26 of the ANC’s Constitution, which guide disciplinary actions and uphold the standards of accountability within the party.
“On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, a duly convened meeting of the ANC’s executive committee was held at the party’s national headquarters. In line with constitutional procedures, the decision to suspend the lawmakers was made by a two-thirds majority vote of the executive committee members present,” ANC said in a release.
Representatives Williams, Bahway, and Flomo, according to the release, “failed to honor an official invitation extended to them to appear before the party’s investigative panel. The panel was constituted to examine their conduct during the recent impasse in the House of Representatives (HoR), during which they acted in clear contravention of the party’s stated position and directives.”
“The ANC views their actions as a serious violation of party discipline, unity, and democratic values. No individual, regardless of position, is above the party’s rules and constitution,” the release said.
“The suspension of the four partisans takes effect immediately, and will last until November 20, 2025, during which time, Representatives Williams, Bahway, and Flomo, are barred from participating in all ANC activities, both at the national and local levels.”
Though, none of the suspended officials have responded to The Inprofile newspaper inquiry up to press time last night, the ANC said, “it reaffirms the party’s commitment to upholding democratic governance, transparency, and accountability within its ranks.”
