𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁

The Senate has formally acknowledged receipt of a complaint from the House of Representatives regarding public statements made by Gbarpolu County Senator Amara Konneh.

In its response, communicated through the Secretary of the Senate, and read during the House’s leadership meeting on Monday, Aril 27, the Senate emphasized its commitment to the principles of legislative propriety, mutual respect, and the broader national interest.

The Senate further informed the House that it has engaged Sen. Konneh on the matter and provided the necessary advisement in line with its internal processes.

The Senate also reaffirmed its dedication to maintain a cordial, and constructive working relationship with the House of Representatives.

The House’s communication, addressed to Pro-Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, formally registered its concerns over recent comments made by Sen. Konneh on his official Facebook platform regarding the House’s decision to expel Montserrado County Electoral District #10 Representative, Yekeh Y. Kolubah.

According to the House, it takes serious exception to the Konneh’s characterization of its constitutional action, particularly his assertion that “the expulsion of Yekeh represents yet more theater in the Chambers of the House of Representatives that risk grinding the whole system of government to a halt.”

Konneh’s further description of the proceedings as “not politics, but madness” is part of the House’s complaint.

The House described the Konneh’s remarks as “deeply concerning, and regrettable,” noting that such statements undermine the integrity, independence, and authority of the Legislature as a co-equal branch of government.
