Unfinished US$75K Youth Center Construction Raises Concerns

Nearly six years after construction began, Grand Kru County’s US$75,000 Youth Center remains without several basic facilities needed to make it fully functional, raising concerns about the opportunities being lost by young people in the county.

Residents said the facility still needs essential infrastructure, including water, a hand pump, a generator room, and chairs, despite the lengthy period since work commenced.

The center was expected to serve as a space where young people could participate in training, meetings, recreational activities, and other youth-focused programs.

Residents are now calling on the authorities to prioritize the completion and furnishing of the facility before any official handover.

They also want a clear assessment of what was included in the original project plan and what remains outstanding, saying transparency is necessary to determine whether the project has been implemented as intended.

For many residents, the concern is not only about an unfinished building but also about the continued lack of a functional space that could support youth development across the county.

Residents are therefore urging the relevant authorities to act promptly and ensure the center is completed, equipped, and made available for its intended purpose.
