Supreme Court Prohibition Order Violated? Mr. Stanton Gaye
The Supreme Court of Liberia on April 15, 2024, issued a prohibition order against the demolition of houses in the Catholic Community in Congo Town, as affected residents were in distress as a result of the exercise that would make a record number of families homeless. The demolition order came from Judge Ousman F.Feika of the Civil Law Court of Monrovia, which emanated from a land dispute between some residents of the community and administrators of the Intestate Estate of Mary Barclay. However, it seems to be administrators of the Intestate Estate headed by Mr. Stanton V. Gaye continue to pursue residents of the community in areas they (administrators) claim to be theirs, to do business with them while the prohibition order is still maintained. Against this backdrop, peaceful residents of the community are calling on the Supreme Court to promptly intervene by advising Mr. Gaye and others associated to abide by the statement of the order placed on the Catholic Community land Case until the court can otherwise decide the way forward. “Stanton V. Gaye who is representing the Interstate Estate of the late Joseph V. Gaye, is still violating and bringing clients and telling them that he won the case from the Supreme Court and asking us to do business with him,” some aggrieved residents have told the In Profile Daily. On Wednesday, July 31, 2024, the residents disclosed that Mr. Gaye and his team droved on the beach with some clients, telling them that he owns the entire area from the beach to the main road as far Catholic Junction. The residents said they are patiently awaiting results from the Supreme Court but expressed frustration that Mr. Gaye is disrespecting the Court mandate by bringing clients on one hundred and fifteen property owners and residents of over five thousand people living in the area to do business. Out of these properties, Mr. Gaye is said to have won a case against three property owners only, but allegedly he went to the lower court with purported documents ‘criminally’ attached to the ruling against the three family heads in the Catholic Community adjacent the Dominion Church and broke down properties for residents who were not part of the land dispute case “This move prompted the community in March and April of 2024 to immediately hire a law firm and place a stay order on the illegal eviction of their various homes, but Stanton is still disrespecting the court order along with his brother and Jarbah A. Jarbah,” the residents lamented.
