Speaker Koon, Others In Ghana For President-Elect Mahama’s inauguration
House Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon, along with two other lawmakers—House Chair on Executive, Sekou Kanneh, and Chair on Foreign Affairs, Nehker Gaye—are set to be Liberia’s guests of the Ghanaian government. Speaker Koon and his delegation have been officially invited by the Speaker of the Ghanain Parliament Rt. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin to witness the induction ceremony of Ghanaian President-elect John Mahama, who was recently elected and is scheduled to be sworn into office today, January 7, 2025. “As Ghana transitions to a new political administration and begins a new legislative session, we acknowledge the significance of building strong ties and collaboration among Parliaments across the Africa region. Your presence would therefore be a great honour and a symbol of unity, shared values and commitment to democratic governance in our respective countries. The Parliament of Ghana would be pleased to provide accommodation for you, Rt. Hon. Speaker, and two accompanying officials,” the invitation indicated. On the sidelines of the ceremony, Speaker Koon and his delegation are expected to engage in discussions with key stakeholders in Ghana, further strengthening ties between the two countries.
