President George Weah has described as sad, election violence in Lofa County.

According to reports, two persons have been confirmed dead as a result of the violence between members of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change and the main opposition Unity Party while others are reported to have sustained multiple injuries. The violence the reports disclosed came following a political welcoming ceremony of some members of the Unity Party in Foya District, Lofa County. It is still unclear as to what may have promoted the alleged election violence between the two major political actors. However, Speaking at a political rally in Sanniquellie City, Nimba County , the Liberian leader said his government will deal with those who will try to injure the peace of the country.

“We stayed in opposition for twelve years and we helped maintained the peace of the country as such, we encourage all Liberians to help protect and sustain the peace of Liberia,” President stressed.

He re-echoed the need for the people of this country to see peace as the best way in order to foster development across the country. At the same time, the CDC flag bearer stressed the need for Nimbians to reelect him in order to continue on his path to develop Nimba and Liberia in general.

Nimba, he pointed out, should change the narratives and choice development over tribalism. The vote rich county is among several other counties that are reportedly benefiting from developments and other related initiatives to include road construction, capacity development, among the people of Nimba as well as women and youth empowerment, among others. Meanwhile, in a joyous mood, the people of Nimba assured President Weah of re-electing him based on the tangibles he has and continues to do for them. The Liberian leader was overwhelmingly praised by the people of Nimba for the historic connection of their roads from Ganta to Sanniquellie, including The Loquoto Road, among others.  The pavement of the Ganta to Sanniquellie roads has now reduced transportation fares among the people, including the smooth movement of crops from farm to markets by the local business people, this is unprecedented, they re-emphasized.” Our eyes are open unlike before and we are resolved to choose development over individual and you are the best choice to make it happen for us,” they added.
