Rep. Mulbah Welcomes Supreme Court Decision On House’s Saga

Montserrado County Electoral District #3, Representative Sumo Mulbah, has welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court of Liberia calling on members of the majority bloc to halt  their activities and return to status quo ante. The Montserrado County lawmaker stated that the decision coming from the higher court in the land is in the right direction and should be welcomed by every well-meaning Liberian.  Representative Mulbah stated that their rules are clear and the Constitution of Liberia states that, the speaker can be removed from his position if they have the 49 signatures and follow by due process. The Montserrado County lawmaker added that it is vital for Speaker Koffa to be accorded due process under the Law’s of Liberia.  He made the statement recently to journalists in Monrovia. Representative Mulbah stated that the form and manner in which some members of the House of Representatives referring to themselves members of the majority bloc seeking the removal of Speaker Koffa is very wrong. The ALP lawmaker further said his colleagues are acting outside of the laws of the country on the issue of the speaker’s removal. According to him, Liberia is a country of laws not disorder.  The Montserrado County lawmaker re-emphasized that when it comes to the removal of the speaker, it requires due process under the constitution of Liberia and the House Standing rules.  According to him, if the majority bloc means business to remove Speaker Koffa from his position, they should do the honorable thing by coming in the chamber with the 49 signatures to make their case. He reminded his colleagues that lawmakers are not laws breaker.  Representative Mulbah explained that when it comes to the issue of the speaker’s removal, he is on the side of the laws.  The Montserrado County lawmaker noted that he took oath of office as lawmakers to protect and defend the constitution of Liberia.  The ALP lawmaker informed the public that he is a reputable stakeholder in the country who believes in upholding the rules of laws.
