Information Minister, Jerolinmek Matthew Piah, has frowned at some Liberians for “being unpatriotic.”

Piah said, some Liberians want to see a “full all out” war between Liberia and her sisterly Republic of Guinea due to the ongoing border crisis between the two countries.

He made the assertion at a Ministry of Information regular press conference on Tuesday, March 31,2026, on Capitol Hill. “Some ill-informed Liberians want see all out war between Guinea and Liberia, butt hell no because we are peaceful people running a responsible government.”

Piah’s statement was in direct response to some Liberians, including some so-called clerics, who said that due to the border debacle, the latter has cut off electricity supply to the former.

He clarified that Guinea had earlier scale down its 30 megawatts electricity supply to Liberia through the West Africa Power Poll (CLSG) to 25 megawatts; “not because of the trivial border dispute.”

He said, the cut is the result of the dry season, and has subsequently scale it further down to 20 megawatts.

Mr. Piah described the the information being spread by some “misguided individuals as totally misleading and untrue.”

“You cannot be so unpatriotic and irresponsible. National Leaders must be problem solvers. You must consider the safety and the survivor of the nation.”

He called on officials in government, whether from the legislature or executive, who are in the habit of spewing lies, especially about the situation at Liberia/ Guinea border to be patriotic.

Piah cautioned such officials to rather contribute in a way that can mitigate the border situation than to inflame it with deliberate lies, adding: we are Liberians first, and must put politics aside during these challenging times.
