Presidential Press Secretary Kula Fofana said President Joseph Nyuma Boakai remains committed to improving the lives of Liberians.

Speaking at a regular Executive Mansion Press Briefing on Friday, September 13,2024,  Madam Fofana stated that the Liberian leader as part of his efforts to change the lives of his people, will set up a special technical working committee to make follow-up from the just ended Asian trip especially scores of Commitments and promises made both in China and Indonesia for the benefit of the Liberian people.

“The President is very robust and is putting in place practical measures to ensure that the Liberian people adequately benefit from his just ended trip from Indonesia and China respectively,” she added.

She told Executive Mansion reporters that President Boakai’s interest, among other things, is to make a tangible impact on the lives of his people stating that such plans remain unchanged.

She named the development of roads, improved agriculture sector, infrastructure development and youth empowerment including jobs creation for the young people as priority areas of the Liberian leader.

Speaking about the Memorandum of Understanding signed in China, she clarified that it was not an MOU rather an MOC, a Memorandum of Commitment to invest in Liberia.

According to her, some potential companies and investors already have representatives in Liberia and are doing assessment while other delegation members from Asia will arrive in the Country soon.

She at the same time pledged President Boakai’s renewed commitment to fighting corruption.

According to her, President Boakai takes seriously, audit reports released by the General Auditing Commission and will review them properly and take appropriate action.

“The President will also take action against his cabinet officials who are yet to declare their assets, ” she assured the Liberian people.

Explaining further, she indicated that President Boakai’s current work is not for the next election rather for the next generation.

“Hope Is Here and the hope is to help improve all sectors of the Country, the hope is not , hope for change and change for hope but a hope that will change the story of the Liberian people for the betterment,” she re-emphasized.

Meanwhile, members of the cabinet ended a special cabinet meeting on September 13, 2024 at the grounds of the Executive Mansion.

The meeting brought together senior cabinet officials including Heads of State owned Enterprises, among others.

The Public Financial Management laws as well as the Revenue sharing law regulations, among other things were issues on the agenda for discussion.
