‘No By-election, No Work For Boakai!!’
…D #10 Residents Threatened
They warned: “If Kolubah is reinstated, our protests will continue until a by-election is held, because he mismanaged our development funds.”
A group under the banner of Concerned Citizens from Electoral District #10 in Montserrado County, has planned to stage a violent protest.
The group said, if by-election is not held in the district to elect a new representative, they will violently protest, and prevent President Joseph Nyuma Boakai from going to work.
The group threatened to also prevent the President from using the Congo Town–Capitol Hill route to go to work “if a by-election is not held in the coming months.”
The group insisted that the by-election must take place, or else, they would go violent, and disrupt normal working activities.
The Concerned Citizens spokesperson, Alfred Grear, described former Representative Yekeh Kolubah as a “noise-maker.” Grear accused him of “mismanaging the development funds.”
He said, the district remained poor, and underdeveloped, under Kolubah’s leadership.
He made the remark when they hosted a meeting between district leaders, and Chief Justice Yarmie Quiqui Gbeisay.
The meeting with Justice Gbeisay came after district officials sent a written request seeking the speedy adjudication of the case involving the fate of Kolubah.
The group said, the deadline for holding the by-election has already passed, and they meanwhile, demanded that the election be held in the coming months, “or else, we will go violent.”
They also warned that if Kolubah is reinstated, their protests will continue until a by-election is held.
Members of the 55th legislature expelled Kolubah when he made an authorized public remark about a disputed Liberia/Guinea border.
