Ngafuan Tells Grand Kru:

By Emmanuel Koffa

Finance and Development Planning Minister, Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, has urged citizens to put political differences aside, and support development initiatives.

Ngafuan dispelled the notion that public services, and infrastructure are reserved for supporters of any political party.

He made the remarks on Sunday, September 13, during a citizens’ engagement at Barclayville City Hall, where he met local authorities, traditional leaders, youth and women representatives.

The meeting was part of Ngafuan’s assessment visit to the county.

He named roads, electricity, and education as public goods that benefit every citizen irrespective of their political affiliation.

Ngafuan: “In development, there is no political party. If the yellow machines fix the roads, nobody going to ask for political party identification card to get on the road.”

He added: “We bring light to the town hall, there is no political party ID card here. The education we going to be supporting, there is no political identity.”

Ngafuan’s comments come amid heightened expectations from citizens for the Boakai-Koung administration to deliver on its development commitments, particularly in rural counties where poor road networks, and limited access to basic services continue to pose challenges.

As of the administration’s development agenda, Ngafuan said, government must demonstrate its commitment through concrete action rather than “political rhetoric.”

“We’re going to move, and the move is not in speech, but about improving the lives of our people.”

“I am carrying messages back to Monrovia to the Minister of Public Works, and others, even our development partners. We going to act.”

Ngafuan acknowledged that the administration cannot resolve decades of accumulated development challenges within a short period, but said, progress is being made.

He said, the government performance should ultimately be measured by improvements in the daily lives of ordinary Liberians.

During his visit, Ngafuan inspected the ongoing construction of a classroom annex at the Grand Kru Technical College; the newly completed Youth Center, and yellow machines stationed in Barclayville for road works.
