Authorities at the Ministry of Public Works, has announced plan for demolition exercise that would remove structures that have obstructed alleyways, and designated public access routes in Montserrado County, and its surrounding catchment communities to include the suburbs on Monrovia/Bomi highway.
This initiative is part of effort to restore public access, and improve infrastructure in every community.
Public Works Minister Roland Giddings in an exclusive interview with In Profile Daily newspaper on Wednesday, September 9, confirmed how the planned exercise take effect on October 15.
Giddings: We want those to be affected residents, property owners, and individuals to be aware of this timeline, and to adhere to the Ministry’s directives. The upcoming operation will focus on structures that have been constructed illegally within alleyways, and other public access areas.”
Some of the unauthorized constructions, he said, have significantly hindered movement, and access for residents.
Giddings reiterated government’s commitment to ensure that public spaces are accessible to all residents in every part of the country.
He underscored the importance of the initiative to restore access to vital routes that would facilitate movement, and smoothly connect communities.
Giddings called on residents to cooperate with government authorities during the demolition process, emphasizing the at the need to foster a more organized, and navigable environment for everyone.
