NATIONAL YOUTH RECONCILIATION IN LIBERIA
The Speaker of the Mano River Union Youth Parliament, Liberia Chapter has disclosed that the parliament has embarked on national youth reconciliation among the youths of Liberia. Speaker Daniel Nills stated that Liberian youth reconciliation is crucial to maintain peace and unity among the young people of Liberia and the young people of the Mano River basin countries. Speaker Nills made the disclosure recently when he was honored by the Concerned Journalists Association of Liberia in Monrovia. According to him, the youth parliament focuses on peace building in the Mano River Countries which are Liberia, Sierra Leone , Guinea and Ivory Coast. He noted that with the recent election in Liberia, the youths of different political parties were one way of the other were dividends on so many fronts of political activities and reconciling them is critical toward moving Liberia forward. Speaker Nills stressed that the parliament has been going in the various counties holding dialogues with youth and young people to unite and maintain peace in their respective communities across the country. He indicated that the parliament also engage into creating awareness about drug abuse and impact on the youthful population in Liberia, noting that several people have been victim of illicit drug in the country. He noted that the fight against illicit drug in Liberia should not be compromised as the future leaders of Liberia are dying on the daily basic of drug abuse which government should tackle with urgency. Speaker Nills emphasized that it is unfortunate to see the agency of government which responsible to fight against illicit drugs entering the country, but the director and two deputies are fighting against themselves which has undermines the serious attention given to the fight against illicit drug and drug abuse in the country.
