The Managing Director of the Liberia Airport Authority, Jero Mends-Cole, Thursday, December 19, 2024 was honored by a civil society group under the banner- Citizens United For Better Liberia in collaboration with the Liberia Media Network as “The most outstanding Managing Director of the year 2024” for the level transformations being carried on at the LAA. Speaking during the honoring program at the Liberia Airport Authority in Margibi County, the Executive Director of the group, Kesseley Barzeh, said the selection of Mr. Mends-Cole was not just ordinary but due  to his contributions to the growth and development of society and most of all, the transformations being done at the Liberia Airport Authority since his appointment by  President Joseph N. Boakai.

He further noted that Mends-Cole’s contributions and achievements to the transformation of the Liberia Airport Authority cannot be over- emphasized, stressing that his contributions to ensuring that staff perform their jobs on time, the empowerment of employees, providing of training for security to save environment at the LAA, among others, have proven his commitment to improving Robert International Airport to international standards. Mr. Barzeh also told the gathering that Mr. Mends-Cole is a train aviator and his constant quest to ensuring that the Airport meets all international standards is meant to make the airport comparable to other airports in the sub-region  worth commending and recognizing, stressing that it was upon this backdrop that the Citizens United For Better Liberia decided to recognize him among  many who President Boakai has entrusted with the forward match of the country. He meanwhile cautioned the LAA head not to be complacent but should continue to do more for the betterment of the country. Receiving the honor, Mr. Mends-Cole commended the group for the recognition, stating that he did not know that his works were being notified, maintaining that he remains resolute and committed to ensuring that the Robert International Airport becomes second to none in the sub-region as President Boakai has envisioned a legacy to ensure that America has a direct flights to Liberia. He added that working as aviator is his passion and has also been working in the sector for over forty years, stressing that his appointment at LAA by President Boakai was not a mistake but a roadmap to ensuring that the ARREST Agenda is met in the aviation sector of the country. The LAA head also said his coming to the job is being done with passion; as such, he is going to do everything possible to ensure that the Liberia Airport Authority and the Robert International Airport meet international standards for the betterment of the country.
