LNPC Partners With Four Sporting Federations

The Liberia National Paralympic Committee (LNPC), the umbrella organization for Paralympic sports in Liberia, is set to collaborate with four other sporting federations with the aim of recruiting, training and exposing athletes with disabilities to Para sports. The event, held at Kadi’s Main Hall at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex, brought together the presidents and technical officials of four Liberian sporting federations: Liberia Athletics Federation, Liberia Lawn Tennis Federation, Liberia Table Tennis Federation and Liberia Volleyball Association. The federations gathered to brainstorm ways to train people with disabilities in the mentioned sports disciplines. It is worth noting that the National Paralympic Team recently participated in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, where athletes reached the finals in both the men’s and women’s javelin events. Following the achievements at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, Liberians and the world witnessed athletes with disabilities competing in these sports and representing their country on the biggest stage in Paralympic sports. As a member of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), the Liberia National Paralympic Committee is committed to promoting the Paralympic brand and supporting athletes with disabilities in Liberia. With support from the IPC, the partnership with the four sporting federations will allow for the recruitment and training of Para athletes across all categories. Athletes will be trained in Para athletics, Para table tennis, Para lawn tennis, and sitting volleyball. This partnership will help increase the presence of Para sports in Liberia and create a more inclusive sporting environment for people with disabilities. The National Paralympic Committee has paved the way for the inclusion of more able-bodied sports in the partnership, further advancing the participation of people with disabilities in sports.
