Authorities of the Liberia National Police (LNP) have reinstated Bong County Operations Chief, Chris N. Gono.
Gono’s reinstatement followed the completion of a one-month suspension without pay.
LNP also issued a strong warning to Gono, noting that any future act of “unprofessional conduct” could trigger tougher disciplinary action against him.
The decision, announced in an official communication dated Friday, July 24, ended the disciplinary measures imposed on him at the June 18 investigation.
With the suspension now expired, the LNP has authorized Gono to resume his official responsibilities.
However, the police administration made it clear that Gono’s return to duty should not be interpreted as a “relaxation of disciplinary standards.”
Instead, his reinstatement comes with a firm expectation that he will uphold the highest levels of professionalism, integrity, and accountability required of a senior law enforcement officer.
According to the letter, Gono has been cautioned to refrain from any future “unprofessional conduct.”
It warned that any repeat of the behavior that led to his suspension could result in more severe administrative sanctions.
The communication further directed Gono to report to his immediate supervisor at the Bong County Police Headquarters, and officially resume his duties effective immediately as of July 24.
Although, the LNP did not disclose additional details about the offense that resulted in the suspension, the reinstatement confirms that Gono has completed the disciplinary penalty imposed by the police administration.
With Gono now back in command, public attention will focus on his leadership, and adherence to the professional standards expected of officers entrusted to maintain peace, and security.
