“While I respect Weah as a football legend, my assessment of his presidency is dramatically different. Politically, Weah is the worst experience of Liberians in accomplishments, and decisions he made as a leader,” says Loobo.

A staunch Unity Party supporter, George Loobo, has described former President George Weah as the worst the country has ever elected a president; “wasting six valuable years freed.”

Loobo said, the former football icon will go down in history as the country’s “worst president ever.”

At a resort arranged media engagement on Wednesday, September 16, in Monrovia, Loobo drew a contrast between Weah’s celebrated football career, and his record in national politics.

‎Loobo: “While I respect Weah as a football legend, my assessment of his presidency is dramatically different. Politically, Weah is the worst experience of Liberians in accomplishments, and decisions he made as a leader.”

‎His comments come amid heightened political tensions surrounding former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor.

Madam Taylor is facing multiple charges connected to an ongoing transnational narcotics investigation.

‎Although, Weah has condemned the case against Madam Taylor as politically motivated, he’s yet to comment on Loobo’s description of his leadership as a president (2018-2024).

Madam Taylor legal team has also rejected the allegations against their client, and challenged government’s handling of the case.

‎For Loobo, the argument is nonessential void of legal substance.

He further described Weah’s characterization of the legal matter as “reckless, and ill-advised, because he doesn’t have legal knowledge.”

‎Loobo has meanwhile, challenged the opposition to apply a “consistent standard” when criticizing arrests, dismissals, suspensions, or investigations involving political actors.
