LEC Breaks Ground For US$350K Project

The Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) has broken ground for a US$350,000 electricity expansion project.
The exercise is to extend power access to communities in Bong County, specifically Electoral Districts #1, and #2, along the Borbor Fayahta/Siansue corridor.
Funded through the 2026 national budget, the project is expected to be completed by the end of November this year. It will be implemented by EGAP BTO-LIBERIA Incorporated.
LEC Head of Rural Electrification, Murphy M. Gibson, Sr. described the initiative as a major step to expand electricity access in rural communities.
Bong County Senator, Prince Kermue Moye, urged officials to ensure that all targeted communities benefit from the taxpayer-funded project.
Deputy Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Bill McGill Jones, called on residents to cooperate with the contractor, and protect construction materials.
Residents have welcomed the initiative. For that, some landowners have agreed to allow portions of their cash crops cleared to make way for power lines, and related infrastructure.
Once completed, the project will improve living conditions, support local businesses, and strengthen public service delivery in the targeted communities.
