LDEA Makes Mass Arrests
Two of the suspects were arrested with marijuana at the Tappita checkpoint, Lower Nimba County, the agency said in a release over the weekend.
According to the release, it all begun on Friday, April 25, 2025, at about 10:40 a.m., when a team of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) officers, led by Nimba County Special Drug Squad (SDS) code name: βTension,β arrested two suspects during an inspection operation at the Tappita City checkpoint.
The suspects, Lawrence Langar and Kesselly Vonleh, were on their way to Tappita from Leah Town when officers discovered a black plastic bag containing marijuana concealed within their belongings.
Suspect Lawrence Langar, a 27 years old Liberian national and a resident of Zonngain Town and suspect Kesselly Vonleh, a 28 years old Liberian national, also a resident of Gbor Kwipea Town, District #6, Nimba County are both being held for questioning.
They were both arrested with one black plastic bag of marijuana, estimated street value of L$30,000.
Both suspects are currently undergoing investigation and will be forwarded for court trial.
Also, in Nimba County, the LDEA over the weekend arrested one suspect with 3kg of marijuana.
This time, the agency said I was on April 25, 2025, around 9: a.m., a joint team of the LDEA officers from the Tappita Detail and the Special Drug Squad (SDS), led by the County Chief of Operations, arrested suspect Teah Toe following a hot pursuit operation in Vahn Town, Tappita District.
Suspect Teah Toe, a 53-year-old Liberian national was apprehended in possession of three kilograms of marijuana. The seized drugs have an estimated street value of US$300 or L$57,000.
The suspect is currently undergoing investigation.
In Grand Gedeh County:
LDEA detachment arrested one suspect with 17kg of marijuana
According to the release, it was on April 24, 2025, about 3: a.m. when officers of the agency in Grand Gedeh County arrested suspect Sam Karyogo, a 50-year-old Liberian national in Gbagbo Town.
The suspect was traveling from Niao Clan to Sinoe County when he was apprehended for bypassing the Gbagbo Town checkpoint. Upon inspection, officers discovered 17 kilograms of marijuana in his possession, with an estimated street value of US$1,700 or L$323,000.
Following his arrest, suspect Karyogo was investigated and is now pending court trial.
In Maryland County
The agency arrested a drug dealer in Pleebo City, on April 21, 2025, around 10:30 a.m., when officers in Maryland County arrested one Patrick M. Bowman, a 19-year-old Liberian male residing in Pleebo City.
Bowman, identified as a drug dealer, was apprehended in Pleebo Town in possession of a large quantity of narcotics, including 135 parcels of marijuana and 29 pieces of tramadol tablets. The estimated street value of the seized marijuana is L$40,500, while the street value of the tramadol is L$11,600.
Following his arrest, suspect Bowman was investigated and his case is now pending court trial.
The LDEA, has meanwhile continued to intensify its efforts to combat drug trafficking and abuse across the country. The public is therefore encouraged to report suspicious drugs trading activities.
