“Joke” -Rep. Kolubah Describes His suspension
Montserrado County District #10 Representative Yekeh Kolubah has described his suspension by members of the Majority Bloc as a joke.
Representative Kolubah stated that the Bloc, led by Richard Nabge Koon, does not have the legal authority to suspend any member of the 55th Legislature, claiming it lacks legitimacy.
This statement followed a Supreme Court ruling indicating that Richard Nabge Koon and his team are proceeding unlawfully, a situation that has attracted public criticism toward the legislative body.
On Tuesday, March 11, 2024, the House Majority Bloc suspended Representative Yekeh Kolubah for 30 session days.
The suspension decision was based on a report submitted by Representative James Kolleh, on behalf of the House Committee on Rules, Order, and Administration.
The report, which recommended the suspension, stemmed from a complaint filed by River Gee County Representative Johnson Williams. In his complaint, Representative Williams accused Representative Kolubah of exhibiting rude behavior toward the current leadership of the House.
A majority of lawmakers voted in favor of the suspension. However, Representatives Matthew Joe, Emmanuel Dahn, and Sumo Mulbah voted against the decision.
Meanwhile, a motion for reconsideration was filed by Lofa County District 4 Representative, Gizzie Kollince, seeking to lift the suspension of Representative Kolubah. However, shortly after, Representative Kollince withdrew the motion, thereby allowing the 30-session-day suspension—without pay or benefits—to stand for the outspoken lawmaker. By: Perry B.
