HOR Requests LNP Report On Kinjor Protests

The House of Representatives is seeking a comprehensive report from the Liberia National Police in the recent protests in the town of Kinjor which resulted in the unfortunate loss of several Liberian lives. Plenary’s decision was triggered by a communication from Bong County Electoral District#7 Representative Foday Fahnbulleh in which he stated the police officers involved in the kinjor protest claimed to have acted in self-defense, which led to the fatality of the protesters.  He furthered that there have been concerns raised by citizens regarding the validity and credibility of the evidence relied upon by the police to exonerate themselves and justify their actions.  “In light of these concerns, I strongly believe that it is imperative for the House of Representatives to intervene and establish a specialized committee to thoroughly investigate the police officers’ actions during the Kinjor protests”. Fahnbulleh’s communication noted. The Bong County lawmaker stressed that such an investigation would help shed light on the evidence they relied upon to exonerate themselves, ensuring transparency, accountability, and the delivery of justice for the victims and their families. Meanwhile plenary has instructed the Chief clerk Mildred Sayon to write the Liberia National Police to present a comprehensive report to the Honorable House of Representatives within the period of two weeks.
