The attention of the Honorable House of Representatives has been drawn to a fake alarm circulating about a fire outbreak at the Capitol Building on Thursday.  The leadership of the House categorically refutes these claims, labeling them as baseless and intended to mislead the public. Following an internal assessment and consultation with the Capitol’s facility management team, it has been confirmed that no such incident occurred. The premises of the Capitol Building remain safe and fully operational, with all safety measures intact. The House of Representatives reassures the public, partners, and stakeholders that it remains committed to ensuring the safety of its facilities and personnel. Measures are consistently in place to mitigate risks and handle emergencies swiftly should they arise. The public is encouraged to verify information from credible sources before circulating it to avoid the spread of misinformation that could incite unnecessary panic. The House of Representatives values the support and understanding of the Liberian people as it continues to perform its legislative duties in the service of the nation. Meanwhile the House has since acknowledged receipt of a formal communication from the Liberia National Police (LNP) regarding the recent arson attack on the William R. Tolbert Jr. Joint Chamber. The LNP has identified seven members of the House as persons of interest in the ongoing investigation.  The House is committed to upholding the rule of law and will cooperate fully with the authorities to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation into this matter.
