The House of Representatives has written Grand Kru County Representative Fonati Koffa to vacate the Speaker’s Office to make way for new Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon to move in. In the event he refuses to vacate the office, his belongings are threatened to be thrown out, according to a communication. The communication was sent via text message to Rep. Koffa by the Chairman on Rules, Order & Administration, and Bong County District 2 Representative James Kolleh. “Happy New Year Hon. Koffa, hope you are doing well. Just a reminder about the office key. If you don’t, we might get your things outside. The speaker needs to prepare his office before our return,” according to the communication which was validated by Representative Kolleh. Rep. Kolleh has however expressed shock over the release of their private communication to the public. Speaking to SPOON NEWS on the validity of the text, the Bong County Lawmaker confirmed and lamented why should Representative Koffa release such communication. The Legislature closes on January 6, 2025, and resumes on January 13, 2025, the second working Monday, for the first quarter of the second session of the 55 Legislature. The group of Representatives will then match to the chamber where the Sergeant At-Arms will announce the sitting, and the new speaker will deliver an address to his colleagues on the opening of the Legislature. It still remains unclear as to whether Representative Koffa will vacate the Speaker’s Office or continue the fight to remain the legitimate Speaker of the House of Representatives. The Office is unattended by visitors at the moment as staffers are also away.
