We Wish The ‘Drug Goliaths’ Destroyed

0 3

President Joseph Nyuma Boakia has vowed to destroy the dens of dangerous drugs and vanquish the drug goliaths, who have, and continue to use Liberia as a transit point for the sale of drugs internationally.

Pres. Boakia, in a serious tone while addressing the nation about issues surrounding the US$19 million drugs recently arrested at the RIA by the LDEA said, the government in collaboration with other international security agencies are digging deep into the case to identify those involved.

The public is eagerly waiting to see the ‘drug goliaths’ destroyed mercilessly. The president’s speech seems to be calming down the tension while restoring hope in the hearts and minds of the people.

The case has been elevated from a routine drug investigation to a Joint National Security investigation, because of its size and suspected international connections.

The investigation now involves the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), Liberia National Police, National Security Agency, Financial Intelligence Agency, Immigration Service, Customs, and other security bodies.

Authorities say, the shipment contained about 237.6 kilograms of cocaine hidden in cargo that was reportedly destined for Europe via Brussels Airlines.

Investigators are reportedly seeking a person identified as Emmanuel Zeon, who they claimed delivered the cargo to the airport before leaving the area.

The government has reportedly secured assistance from international partners, including agencies from the United States, Britain, Denmark, and Belgium, to trace the financiers and networks behind the shipment.

Several individuals connected to airport operations and security have reportedly been detained, or are cooperating with investigators, but the LDEA has not publicly released the names of all suspects. The Agency says doing so now could compromise the investigation.

It is against this situation that we wish the government victory in the war against the ‘drug goliaths’ in and out of Liberia.
