Edith Gongloe-Weh Rubbishes Nimba Division Claim
Madam Edith Gongloe-Weh, a lone female candidate in the Nimba County senatorial By-Election has described claim attributed to as an advocate for the division of Nimba County as a failed propaganda orchestrated by her political adversaries in 2012, stating that such call was never made by her.
She accused her main opponent, Representative Samuel Kogar of being the one who actually crafted a bill calling for the creation of three counties out of Nimba, a bill she said was thrown into committee room because the late Senator Prince Johnson was against the idea.
Madam Gongloe-Weh, who also frowned against the issue of power-balance between the Gio and Mano people, said she has never called for the division of Nimba.
At the same time, Madam Gongloe-Weh disclosed that her vision is to advocate for Nimba County to get its fair share of the revenue generated in the county.
As an independent candidate in the Nimba By- election, former Superintendent Gongloe-Weh noted that the county being the second most populated in the country and generating more than 20% of the revenue in the country, its people must benefit.
She said as a natural advocate, she will ensure that all sectors of Nimba get their fair share of the resources meant for the county, while ensuring inclusion of all in the development process.
She made these statements Tuesday-1st April via phone on the Truth Breakfast show.
