By: Domingo Dargbeh
The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Magdalene Ellen Dagoseh, has issued a warning to water producers against raising sachet of water price without proper justification, as the government seeks to safeguard consumers from escalating costs.
In her opening address at a meeting with Water Producer Association on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, Minister Dagoseh reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that essential commodities remain affordable for Liberians.
She said it is important to note that the Association keeps prices stable in the local market, with sachet of water bags priced below LD$85 and individual sachets at LD$5.
Minister Dagoseh stressed that the Ministry will actively monitor the market to ensure adherence to the agreed pricing structure in order to prevent unauthorized increases.
This announcement has come in response to growing public concerns regarding recent price hikes for sachet of water in various regions of the country.
