China, Liberia Reinforce Strategic Partners For Development
In an effort to understand the demands of Liberia and reinforce strategic partnership with Liberia, a delegation from China National Complete Engineering Corporation (CCEC), led by Mr. Shi Jianguo, visited the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism (MICAT) as part of the ongoing collaboration between the Governments of Liberia and the People’s Republic of China. Welcoming the delegation on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, the Deputy Minister of Public Affairs at MICAT, Daniel O. Sando, emphasized the significance of the cooperation for Liberia’s future. He mentioned that the MOU, signed during President Boakai’s visit to China earlier this year, is a strategic move to bolster infrastructure and development efforts across key sectors of the country. “Our citizens are very happy and enthusiastic about this partnership. The President has made it clear that this cooperation is a priority, and we are eager to see the positive outcomes it will bring for the country,” he stated. According to him, the MOU seeks to enhance infrastructure development, trade, and investment between Liberia and People’s Republic of China. He expressed belief that the visit marks a significant step in the ongoing collaboration between the two countries following several previous initiatives. Minister Sando reflected on the crucial role the People’s Republic of China played in Liberia’s infrastructure development, as well as educational programs that send hundreds of Liberians to the People’s Republic of China annually for higher education. For his part, Mr. Shi Jianguo said, the agreement is for the benefit of both Peoples of Liberia and China, adding that China aims to develop practical proposals for key sectors such as infrastructure, manufacturing, and education that reflect the needs of the Liberian people. Mr. Shi underscored China’s commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership with Liberia, noting that the cooperation will be mutually beneficial. “We are committed to making significant contributions to the development of Liberia. We believe this partnership will help generate employment, boost the economy, and improve the lives of the people,” he said.
