Several people, including women and children from Gotolo Town, and nearby villages have fled for their lives in Louisiana Township, Montserrado County.
Residents fled when report emerged that armed bandits have attacked nearby communities.
Some of the victims, mainly women, currently seeking refuge in central Louisiana, said, they were terrorized by men armed with AK-47 riffles, single barrel short guns, and other deadly weapons on Thursday, July 16.
They claimed that they were attacked by the marauding bandits under sporadic gunfire that made them to flee their communities in all directions.
The displaced persons said, a man identified as Blama Wright, is the one who had claimed land ownership over the entire area.
They also mentioned that Blama is the mastermind of the havoc, “because some of the alleged attackers were dressed in police uniforms.”
Though Police authorities have addressed the situation, Ma Watta Kamara, described the incident as a “rebel attack, the worst ever, since Blama began his threats to evade them from their ancestral land. They were beaten and properties looted.
She recognized two well-known fellows named SK and Saidu, who residents claimed had always boast of making the vicinity uninhabitable as gang leaders in the land saga.
“Look at me, I am a great grandma, and my parents bored me here, and it is the only place we know to call home,” the elderly woman said.
She broke down in tears stating that the locations of some of the fleeing relatives have remained unknown since they went helter-skelter during the stampede.
Miata Kamara, and Marie Dennis are two of the displaced persons, who said, they were stripped naked, and their cell phones and money were taken away by the gangsters.
The displaced persons have called on government to arrest Wright, and that the issue of land should portray the due process of law, not violence.
They said, there has been no aid and redress of grievances from the local authorities since the locals were displaced.
