Eugene Gaye, Vice Chair for Operations of the Grand Kru County Governing Unity Party (UP), has claimed that more than 2,500 people are currently aligned with the party.
Gaye addressed the press following the recent arrival of 15 pieces of yellow earth-moving machines in Barclayville.
Gaye, a strong supporter of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, said, the reported growth in UP support reflects an increasing public confidence in the Boakai-Koung Administration.
His remarks came as residents welcomed the arrival of the government-provided equipment, which is expected to support road rehabilitation, and other infrastructure activities in the county.
Gaye linked the development to the administration’s commitment to address the long-standing infrastructure challenges, particularly its difficult road network.
The claim of more than 2,500 UP supporters remains Gaye’s political assertion, and has not been independently verified.
The arrival of the 15 machines has nevertheless generated significant public interest in the county, where residents have for years, called for stronger government intervention in roads, and other basic infrastructure, and social services.
