The United Nations Development Programme in collaboration with Liberia’s Ministry of Local Government has strengthened the capacity of the River Gee County Development Office with a donation of modern office equipment aimed at improving service delivery to citizens.

The items were officially handed over on Tuesday by River Gee County Superintendent Hon. Mike Tarpeh Swengbe to County Development Officer Alexander Hinneh  during a brief ceremony attended by county officials in Fish Town.

The donation included 1 Dell desktop computer, 1 HP Uninterruptible Power Supply – UPS, 1 HP printer, 1 air conditioner, and other essential office materials.

Officials said the equipment will enhance the office’s daily operations, improve record-keeping, and strengthen coordination and monitoring of development projects across the county’s districts.

Presenting the items, Superintendent Swengbe expressed appreciation to the UNDP and the Ministry of Local Government for their continued support to local governance in River Gee.

“This donation will enable the Development Office to operate more efficiently and provide better services to our people. We are grateful to UNDP and our government partners for remembering River Gee,” Supt. Swengbe said.

He urged staff of the Development Office to use the equipment responsibly and to ensure it contributes to transparency and accountability.

The donation falls under the longstanding partnership between the UNDP and the Government of Liberia to support the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development – AAID.

Through this partnership, UNDP continues to build the capacity of local government institutions, promote good governance, and support inclusive and sustainable development in all 15 counties.

Receiving the items, County Development Officer Alexander Hinneh thanked UNDP and the Government of Liberia for the timely intervention.

He assured stakeholders that the equipment will be properly managed to improve the office’s efficiency, accountability, and overall performance in implementing development programs for the people of River Gee.

“We will use these tools to better coordinate projects, monitor implementation, and ensure that development reaches every community in River Gee County,” Hinneh stated.

The gesture has been welcomed by local officials who say it will help bridge some of the logistical gaps affecting public service delivery at the county level.
