The National Chairman of Unity Party, Rev. Luther Tarpeh has publicly urged President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. to initiate a significant cabinet reshuffle, advocating for the removal of underperforming government officials to enhance accountability and improve service delivery.
At a news conference over the weekend in Monrovia, Rev. Tarpeh remarked that as President Boakai’s administration approaches its first three years in office, the time for a reshuffle is long overdue.
“As we march majestically toward the end of the first half of our administration, we are calling on Mr. President to reshuffle the cabinet. This is long overdue,” he declared.
He further stated that the party plans to compile and submit a list of officials it believes have failed to meet the expectations of the Liberian people.
“There are some members of our government who are not performing well. We have a list ready to submit to Mr. President. We want to see some ministers replaced immediately. We want to see some directors replaced.
The nation must thrive, and we cannot allow non-performing officials to hinder the government’s progress,” he added.
Tarpeh’s remarks seem to reflect a growing demand within the ruling Unity Party for enhanced performance, accountability, and results from public officials.
His comments are expected to ignite public debate over the effectiveness of cabinet ministers and heads of government agencies, while increasing pressure on the Boakai’s administration to assess the performance of key officials.
It remains unclear whether the Executive Mansion will act on the Chairman’s recommendations.
