Public Warns Against ‘Fraudulent’ Use of Koung

The Office of Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung said, it has received information of “fraudulent activities” involving individuals falsely claiming affiliation with the VP’s office.

In an attempt to extort money from innocent citizens under the pretense of providing scholarships abroad, VP Koung office warned: “the public is hereby strongly cautioned that the VP has not authorized, endorsed, or is in any way involved with any individual or organization soliciting funds for foreign scholarships.

“These schemes,” a release from the VP office said, “are criminal in nature and designed to deceive and exploit members of the public.”

“The Vice President remains committed to promoting genuine opportunities for youth empowerment, and educational advancement through lawful, transparent, and government-sanctioned programs,” the release said.

Meanwhile, the VP office urge all Liberians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals making such claims to the nearest police station or the relevant law enforcement authority.

“The VP office condemns these acts of fraud in the strongest terms, and warns perpetrators that they will face the full weight of the law.”

“We commend officers of the Liberia National Police for swiftly responding to the allegations, and conducting an ongoing investigation,” the release added.
