A call for accountability has emerged from Grand Bassa County’s District #4 Representative, Alfred Flomo, who has urged mandatory drug testing for all members of the Legislature, citing concerns that some lawmakers may be attending sessions under the influence of narcotics.

“I think some of our colleagues can take in something before coming for session,” Rep. Flomo asserted, stressing that national leaders must be in a clear and sober state of mind while conducting the people’s business.

The startling demand comes on the heels of a heated confrontation in the House on Thursday (30th October), during which Representative Yekeh Kolubah reportedly insulted Flomo, calling him a “foreigner” due to his complexion.

The altercation escalated to the point where Representative Kolubah had to be escorted out of the chamber by security officers.

Flomo’s remarks have ignited widespread debate among Liberians, raising serious questions about professionalism, discipline, and accountability in the 55th Legislature.

Citizens are now asking whether those entrusted with making national laws are truly fit to serve, or if partisan bickering and unprofessional conduct have become the norm.

With Flomo’s controversial call now in the public , it remains to be seen if the Legislature will address the claims seriously, or continue operating in what many fear is a climate of unprofessionalism and unchecked misconduct.
