Let's Make Real The Meaning of Unification

Tomorrow May 14, 2026, is national unification day, and is to be observed as national holiday throughout the country as presidential proclamation has mandated.

Without doubt, no nation and people can ever enjoy social, political, cultural and economic peace where unity is lacking. In the absence of unity, there’s darkness at noon, there’s doom in all corners, and there’s no real national growth and development.

National unification brings people of different tribes, regions, religions, and political backgrounds together to work for the good of one country.

When citizens are united, there is less conflict, hatred, and violence while learning to respect one another and live together peacefully.

A united nation can work together to improve roads, schools, hospitals, and the economy especially in the case with our nation (Liberia), which needs remedies as opposed to tragedies to recover from social and economic backwardness.

National unity helps citizens stand together against crime, corruption, terrorism, or foreign threats. When unity prevail, citizens become proud of their country and are more willing to protect and support it.

Investors and businesses prefer peaceful and united countries, not a society where undefined protests are the order of the day. Unity creates a better environment for trade and employment. Unification encourages fairness and reduces tribalism, discrimination, and political exclusion.

Unity prevails only when leaders focus on solving national problems instead of managing constant divisions and conflicts through the acts of tribalism, nepotism, sectionalism and corruption.

United countries are often respected by the international community, because they appear stable and organized.

A nation becomes stronger when citizens combine their talents, ideas, and resources for a common purpose.

Countries like Liberia and many others benefit greatly when citizens place national interest above tribal, regional, or political differences.

Let’s make unification real and purposeful consistent with the truest sense of the word.
