Amb. Massaquoi Launches New Book
A renowned Liberian academician and diplomat, Alieu M. Massaquoi, has launched a ‘new book’ that teaches lessons in generosity and cultural adherence.
The new book, titled: “The Three Generous Men,” was officially launched by Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Madam Ethel Davies, on Friday, March 27, 2026, in Monrovia.
This new book is a short story that explores contemporary societal issues through a narrative that emphasizes the importance of maintaining cultural values amidst technological advancements.
The book addresses themes such as cultural adherence, devoutness, leadership, wisdom, tolerance, motherly care, peace, unity, the significant role of women, and collective societal contributions.
It also highlights the importance of staying true to deep-seated cultural practices and critiques societal ills, including patriarchal dominance.
The author of the book, Ambassador Alieu M. Massaquoi, underscored the importance of preserving traditions while promoting gender equality to align with technological advancement.
Massaquoi noted that empowering women is essential for national development and social progress.
He further informed the audience that he wrote the book as a legacy of his experience in lecturing English and Literature at three institutions of higher learning in Liberia, namely: The University of Liberia (UL), the African Methodist Episcopal University (AMEU) and Stella Maris Polytechnic University (SMPU).
Amb. Massaquoi served as Liberia’s Ambassador to the Republic of Ghana and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The launch of the book was graced by UL President, Dr. Layli Maparyan, former River Gee County Senator, Commany Wisseh, former Foreign Minister Elias Shoninym, , Ambassador George Wallace, Sr. Senior Advisor to the President on Foreign Affairs, Gabriel Salee, Deputy Minister Administration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Grand Mufti of Liberia, Sheik Abubakar Sumorow, and the Executive Director of the Civil Society Network of Liberia (CSNL).
The book: “The Three Generous Men” is expected to be taught in schools as part of educational resource materials.
The President of the UL has meanwhile, announced that the book will be placed in the library for reading and research work.
