Three men have been arrested in Fish Town, River Gee County, for allegedly presenting fraudulent documents during the ongoing Liberia National Police (LNP) recruitment and vetting exercise.

According to sources on the LNP recruitment team, the suspects were apprehended on Monday, October 19, 2026, during the screening phase after recruitment officers detected inconsistencies in their ages and academic credentials.

Preliminary information indicates the men allegedly altered their dates of birth and presented questionable school certificates in an attempt to meet the eligibility requirements for enlistment into the Liberia National Police.

The arrests have come as the LNP intensifies measures to ensure transparency, accountability and credibility in the nationwide recruitment process, which is intended to recruit qualified and professional officers into the force.

The recruitment team in Fish Town has since issued a strong warning to all prospective applicants, cautioning against forgery, impersonation, and submission of false information.

”We will not compromise the integrity of this recruitment exercise.

Anyone caught presenting false documents will be arrested and turned over for prosecution,” the team stated.

Applicants have been urged to strictly adhere to the official recruitment guidelines published by the LNP, including age limits, educational qualifications, and proof of Liberian citizenship, and to ensure all documents submitted are authentic and verifiable.

The ongoing recruitment is part of the LNP’s broader reform and manpower strengthening efforts aimed at improving law enforcement and public safety across the country.

Meanwhile, police authorities in River Gee have not yet disclosed the identities of the three suspects, nor have they specified the exact documents allegedly falsified.

The suspects are reportedly undergoing investigation at the Fish Town Police Detachment.
