The Buah Business Association in collaboration with businessman, Hilary Gray, has embarked on a road rehabilitation exercise.

The road work along the Iron Bridge, Norkwia corridor in Grand Kru County, as the deplorable condition of the road pose challenge to business activities.

Businesspeople familiar with the initiative narrated how the project is a self-funded intervention, with an estimated cost of more than L$1.5 million.

The rehabilitation is to further improve the road, ease the movement of goods and passengers, and reduce the difficulties confronting residents, and commercial operators, who depend on the corridor for their daily activities.

The Iron Bridge–Norkwia road corridor has deteriorated to a level that threatens the safety of road users, particularly commercial motorcyclists, who regularly transport passengers and goods between communities.

Businesspeople operating in the area say, the condition has become a major concern, “because it has exposed motorcyclists to dangerous riding conditions.

For commercial motorcyclists, poor road conditions can increase the risk of accidents, damage motorcycles, and reduce the number of trips they can complete.

The situation also presents challenges for traders, and commuters, who rely on the road to transport merchandise and access markets.

Businesspeople say, improving the road is meanwhile, not simply a transportation issue, but also an important step to protect livelihoods, and sustain economic activities.

In response to these challenges, the Buah Business Association, recently announced the initiative to rehabilitate the road through its own resources in collaboration with Hilary Gray.

The reported investment of more than L$1.5 million underscores the financial commitment the business community has made to address a critical infrastructure problem affecting its members and surrounding communities.
