One of Nimba County’s prominent sons, Dr. Kadiker Rex Dahn, has broken his silence nearly six months after returning to Liberia.
Dahn expressed concern over a “growing political tension, and division in the county.”
He considers it necessary to speak out in response to the “unfortunate political noise currently surrounding Nimba County.”
He said, the situation risks tarnishing the county’s notable political, and historical image, and attributed much of the tension to the activities of “political Judases.”
Dr. Dahn specifically referenced Senator Samuel G. Kogar, and his likes, whom he accused of engaging in “counterproductive political activities that run contrary to the traditional values, and collective interests of the county.”
He warned that continued political division could create the impression that Nimba is politically fragmented, and directionless, despite the county’s significant contribution to the political, economic, and national development.
Dr. Dahn in a concerned tone: “It is unfortunate that these men would deliberately choose to become thorns in Nimba’s flesh, and drive Nimba toward darkness when, in fact, Nimba is high on the agenda of the Boakai-Koung administration.”
Dr. Dahn urged Nimba’s political leaders, and citizens to place the collective interests of the county above individual political ambitions.
He emphasized the need for unity, constructive engagement, responsible leadership, and political maturity to protect Nimba’s historical reputation, and ensure that the county benefits fully from national development initiatives.
He cautioned that prolonged pointless political infighting in Nimba could undermine the progress, and opportunities available to the county at a time when, according to him, Nimba remains an important priority of the national administration.
He further stated: “Absolutely, no one can bend Nimba’s ongoing growth, and development only for selfish gains. If they do, it would amount to a treacherous endeavor to reverse the gains Nimba is experiencing under this administration, which is taking the country out of the dungeon of darkness.”
Dr. Dahn also criticized individuals whom he described metaphorically as political “witches and wizards” those who, in his view, see the truth, but deliberately portray it as falsehood, and see emerging progress as darkness, “because they benefit politically from continued instability, and division.”
Dr. Dahn, a member of the Unity Party, and a prominent son of BuuYao, where Senator Samuel Kogar also hails from, sharply criticized “Sen. Kogar’s vicious attacks on President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, the First Family, and Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung.”
He described Kogar’s criticisms as politically motivated, and lacking constructive substance, while urging political leaders to prioritize cooperation with the Executive Branch in advancing national development.
Dr. Dahn meanwhile, praised Pres. Boakai for his determined fight against illicit drugs, and organized drug trafficking.
He stated: “God is first, and the President, and his Vice President are second in ushering Kogar to his present position. Rather than working with the Executive, he has become an antagonist. What a shame, and disgrace! Kogar is incorrigible, and continues to repeat the same senseless fight against former leaders only to gain political relevance.”
Dr. Dahn further expressed disappointment over Sen. Kogar’s political posture, saying: it has, in his view, brought embarrassment to the people of BuuYao, especially the Dan community, with whom he identifies as a member.
In a direct appeal to the national leadership, Dr. Dahn said: “In this public manner, I plead with the President and Vice President to see Kogar as he is, and not to judge the entire BuuYao community by the actions of one individual. I stand with Pres. Boakai, and VP Koung. The people of BuuYao stand with Pres. Boakai, and VP Koung.
While predicting Kogar’s possible political downfall given his clueless attitude, Dr. Dahn recognized the efforts of the late Jackson Fiah Doe, whose undaunted contribution to national growth, and development cannot be tainted.
“The people of BuuYao remain wholeheartedly in support of this government seeing the rescue light at the end of the tunnel.”
Dr. Dahn has called on the people of Nimba to reject political division, and focus instead on peace, unity, development, and the long-term interests of the county.
He maintained that political differences should not be allowed to undermine Nimba’s development prospects, or the broader national interests.
Dr. Kadiker Rex Dahn is a public intellectual, and former senior government official with a longstanding association with Nimba County. He has been involved in education, governance, political commentary, and national issues concerning peace, development, and democratic progress.
