Lawmakers Subpoena Mo Ali

The Plenary of the House of Representatives has summoned Mohammed Ali, alias Mo Ali, Managing Director of Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC).

Ali was to appear before the august body on Tuesday, July 14, but failed to show up. He was invited to provide updates on the prolonged disruption of public water supply in Kakata, Margibi County.

Plenary’s decision followed a communication Margibi County Electoral District #3 Representative, Ellen A. Attoh-Wreh submitted.

Rep. Wreh’s communication highlighted the persistent lack of reliable public water services in Kakata, and the growing hardship being experienced by residents due to LWSC’s failure to provide water.

In her communication, Rep. Wreh said, the people of Kakata have endured an extended period without dependable access to safe drinking water.

The situation, residents has forced many householders to rely on “unhygienic water and expensive alternative sources to meet their daily needs.”

She further said, the prolonged interruption has negatively affected homes, schools, health facilities, businesses, and the overall well-being of the locals.

“I consider it imperative to seek clarification from Mr. Ali regarding the circumstances that have contributed to the prolonged interruption of water services.”

Rep. Wreh requested that Ali provide a comprehensive update on the operational status of the Kakata Water System, the challenges impeding the restoration of water services, and the concrete measures being undertaken by the corporation to resolve the longstanding problem.

Following deliberations, Plenary agreed to invite Ali to appear before the House to respond to the concerns raised and outline the Corporation’s plans to restore reliable water services to the locals.
