“None of our senior staff will be removed by employees’ or by public demands. So, Dr. Minnie is going nowhere…” -Phebe Hosp. Communication Officer, Samuel Kplawru.

Phebe Hospital has taken a firm stance against mounting calls for the removal of its top administrators.

It adds: “None of our senior staff will be removed by employees’, or public demands. So, Dr. Minnie Sankawulo Ricks is not going nowhere.”

For that, the hospital has declared that no amount of protest action will force the institution to dismiss it medical director, Dr. Minnie Sankawulo Ricks, or any other member of its leadership.

The hospital’s communication officer, Samuel Kplawru, who spoke amid the ongoing dispute, said, decisions regarding the appointment, or the removal of administrators rest solely with the board of directors, and therefore, “demonstrations cannot dictate it in the streets.

Kplawru dismissed suggestions that the recent protest staged by nurses and other employees would influence the board’s decision.

He insisted that the administration remains focused to strengthen the institution rather than yield to ‘unnecessary’ public pressure.

He disclosed how Phebe Hospital, working in collaboration with the government, has already developed measures to ensure employees receive salaries above the minimum wage.

Kplawru challenged critics, and the employees, who now turned aggrieved to present “credible financial documents if they believe the current administration has engaged in financial misconduct.”

He said, the 14-count petition the employees submitted has not been ignored.

Instead, the administration has initiated an independent investigation into the allegations to ensure transparency and accountability.

Kplawru urged hospital employees to remain professional and conduct themselves responsibly while the investigation is ongoing.

He spoke of the hospital’s foremost responsibility to continue providing quality healthcare services to the public.

Despite the ongoing controversy, Kplawru pointed to several achievements under the current administration, including the installation of a solar energy system that has reduced the hospital’s dependence on JEP electricity and lowered operational costs.

His remarks come after dozens of nurses and other employees marched through the streets of Gbarnga on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, demanding the immediate dismissal of Dr. Ricks and Administrator Jonathan L. Pewu.

The protesters demanded the pair removal based on concerns outlined in their petition.

As public debate over the hospital’s leadership intensifies, neither the board, nor the government has announced any decision on the employees’ demand for the removal of the senior officials.
