The leadership and members of the National Foot Soldiers-CDC have taken note of the alarming reports regarding a plot to unlawfully remove Speaker Koffa .

“This action, if pursued, would not only threaten the Speaker’s position but would destabilize the integrity of our democratic institutions. We issue this statement today to categorically warn all those lawmakers involved in this plot to immediately desist from any further actions aimed at undermining the Speaker’s authority,” the CDC Auxiliary said.

The Auxiliary continued: “We strongly condemn any effort to unseat the Speaker through illegal or unconstitutional means by bribing lawmakers. The Speaker was democratically elected and has the mandate to serve the people of Liberia. Any attempt to circumvent the democratic process is a direct attack on the principles of fairness and justice that guide our nation. Let it be clear: the consequences of these actions will be severe politically and legally for all involved. The National Foot Soldiers-CDC will mobilize across the country to solicit signatures to remove all lawmakers involved in this undemocratic political process.”

The ongoing conspiracy, the group said, is a dangerous ploy that seeks to destabilize the legislative branch of government; adding, “Such reckless behavior will not be tolerated. Those involved in this plot are reminded that the laws of Liberia are clear, and any breach of these laws will lead to immediate and uncompromising radical and unspecified actions. Our democracy is built on the will of the citizens, and we will not hesitate to enforce it to the fullest extent.”

The Auxiliary called on all lawmakers, especially those in positions of power and influence, to reject these illegal tactics and stand united in defense of Liberia’s constitutional order, stressing that the country’s peace and progress must not be sacrificed for personal or political gain.

According to the group, any attempts to remove the Speaker illegally, especially when it has been evident that bribery is involved will only lead to instability and chaos, which the nation cannot afford at this critical time.

“Furthermore, we advise those orchestrating this conspiracy to reflect on their actions and the harm they are causing to the nation’s image, their families and the democratic progress. Liberia is a nation founded on the values of transparency, democracy, and the rule of law, and any deviation from these values will be met with firm resistance. Let this be a final warning to all: desist now, or face the political consequences.”

The Auxiliary said the people of Liberia are watching, and urged all citizens to remain vigilant; adding, “The will of the people must and will prevail. We will not allow undemocratic forces to jeopardize the hard earned peace and stability of our nation. The Speaker will continue to serve as long as mandated by the Liberian people, and any attempt to illegally remove him will be decisively dealt with by the National Foot Soldiers-CDC.”
