W/Bank Official Pledges Support To MoL

An official of the World Bank, has pledged the entity’s support to key human-impact projects at the Ministry of Labour (MoL). 

According to a release, projects of the Ministry under the World Bank spotlight include: “Trafficking In Persons (TIP) and Child Labour.”

The Bank Environment and Social Development Specialist, Robert Ndong, made the disclosure on Thursday, October 30, when he paid a courtesy visit with Labour Minister Cooper W. Kruah at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Congo Town.

Ndong disclosed that several African countries are currently benefiting from similar support from the Bank, and Liberia stands the chance to benefit, through the MoL.

Mr.  Ndong is quoted by a Labour Ministry release as assuring Labour Minister Cooper W. Kruah of the need to improve the long-standing partnership between the Bank and the government.

“We want to enhance the Labour Ministry strategic programs.”

 Mr. Ndong assured the Min. Kruah of a stronger collaboration, through manpower development and technical assistance to enhance the Labour sector.

He recalled the World Bank pivotal role in attracting a huge investment portfolio to Liberia, particularly ArcelorMittal, which is providing job and economic stimulus to the country. Earlier, Minister Kruah welcomed Mr. Ndong on the visit.

He commended the Bank for its numerous supports to Liberia’s economic transformation, and pledged his administration’s commitment to build on existing partnership in boosting the labour sector with the Bank increased support in logistics, training and communication.
