Maryland County Health Team has received the two newly constructed staff quarters.
The completed facilities, and officially dedicated are located at the J.J. Dossen Memorial Hospital in Harper, and the Pleebo Health Center in the county commercial hub, Pleebo.
The two facilities were constructed by Partners In Health (PIH), a non-governmental organization, dedicated to strengthen healthcare system.
PIH continues to play a crucial role to improve health service delivery, enhance infrastructure, and support specialized programs.
The programs are mental health, essential drug distribution, and care for disadvantaged youth and orphaned children.
The official dedication ceremony, which was held on Tuesday, October 27, at the Pleebo Health Center, brought together medical practitioners, local leaders, and representatives from PIH.
The event marked a new chapter in the county healthcare delivery system, particularly for its two largest referral centers.
The dedication of these modern staff quarters represents more than just infrastructure development, but a vital investment to improve healthcare in Harper and Pleebo respectively.
At the J.J. Dossen Memorial Hospital, the facility provides safe, comfortable housing for doctors and nurses, who often travel long distances or live under challenging conditions.
While in Pleebo, the staff quarters will equally benefit the Pleebo Health Center, which serves thousands of residents, not only from Maryland County, but from nearby districts and border communities.
During the ceremony, Maryland County Health Officer, Dr. Siedoh Freeman, extended gratitude to PIH for their support.
Freeman described the facilities as a “total relief, and a timely intervention.”
“This initiative shows true partnership and commitment to the well-being of our people. With these new quarters, our health professionals will be better positioned to serve, especially during emergencies.
