Let’s Use The Law To Say NO To Drug

A massive campaign against human killer drugs or illegal substances, which have and continue to destroy the fabrics of our society was launched on Thursday, August 7, 2025, in Monrovia, and other parts of the country by droves of Liberians in concert with diverse civil society groupings.

Through presidential proclamation, President Joseph Nyuma Boakia triggered the campaign and promised his government’s relentless efforts to narrow, if not totally obliterate, the existence of the menace, which is practically destroying the youthful population.

Unarguably, there can never be a defined, refined, reliable and comfortable future of any society where the ugly culture of drug is allowed to take solid roots as vulture eating the fabrics.

Indeed, drug is man-made devil and when it is let to take larger space traditionally in society, the tendency of the existence of multiplied and wanton ills cannot argued.

Certainly, drug abuse, when allowed to grow to higher height is tantamount to direct or indirect creation of self-established kingdom of hell here on earth, for that matter, Liberia.

Here in Liberia, the kingdom of drug could be seen gradually growing to the mountain level, from its present hill status. The proliferation of drug hubs around the country is rising, while the associated temptations are simultaneously rising to the detriment of the country future.

This is why we appreciate the massive campaign against the culture of drug by concerned citizens. We laud the government for also barking at drug abuse hoping that it will harvest the political will to fight the menace.

By political will we mean, using the power of an uncompromising law to chase drug out of the land. In order words, mere cosmetic and verbal campaigns can never fear drug, their importers and end users.

We therefore recommend a mercilessly activated law which, unlike politicians, who merciful to praise singers, will mercilessly deal with drug importers and drug users.

The stronger and uncompromising the law, the stronger the society and the peaceful its citizens. Let the law be energized to holistically swing fearlessly across the length of breadth of the land.

Let the law be like the bloom that never stops at and dirt. Let the law be made to bring down the kingdom of drug importers. We also recommend that the LDEA be fully supported by government if and they’re to fruitfully perform to expectation. We understand the LDEA is operating on a needle size budget with its officers earning very low wages yet they expected to successfully chase someone who’s dealing million dollars’ worth of drugs. It’s not possible for a hungry dog to successfully hunt the hostile deer.

Hence, let the law be made strong to fight drug.
