Koon Denies 2029 Ambition
House Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon, has resolutely denied ever sheltering any political ambition in his home county, Sinoe in 2029.
Koon office denial came amidst widespread speculations that he would contest in the county.
Recent report suggested that Mr. Koon was eyeing a seat in Sinoe County.
To this, his media and communication advisor, Vehzeelee Sumo, clarified that the “Speaker has no ambition to contest in the county.”
The office described the rumors as “totally misleading, and a-politically driven chip chat.”
On Radio Butaw’s Early Morning Ride program on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, Sumo told his audience that “Speaker Koon is not considering any political ambition in the county.”
He said Koon’s recent visit to the county should not be viewed as a campaign move, rather a homecoming after being away for several years.
Sumo: “Since the Mr. Koon left Sinoe County, it has been a long time, and now he feels the need to return home to reconnect with his family and friends.
He said the Speaker is eager to assess some of the challenges facing the people of Sinoe, “and will use his position to engage government for redress.”
Sumo further noted that the visit will also allow the Speaker to listen directly to his people, and understand the issues affecting their daily lives.
“This is not politics; it is a man returning to his roots to give back; share time with his people, and to see how he can help make their lives better,” Sumo said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Koon hails from Butaw District, where he is also expected to host a family meeting, and serve as the guest speaker at the Butaw High School closing program.
He is expected to arrive in Sinoe County on Friday, accompanied by several lawmakers from the county, and members of his office staff.
