Exhausted!!
Authorities at the Liberia National Police (LNP) under the timepiece of Gregory Coleman, seemingly appears in the eyes of the public as dragging the law against rape in the mud, if not bending it low, and undermining its intended purpose.
For example, the Gregory Coleman-led police is quoted in several local media outlets as saying:” Police has exhausted all efforts to ascertain the nitty-gritty of the rape incident involving the deputy minister at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Bryant Jones McGill, and there’s no connection between the victim and the accused ‘unless a DNA is conducted.”
Sadly, the unanswered question: How did we get to the now foreign DNA test in a rape case? The DNA, (new intro) police claimed, is to prove that the rape allegation, only against McGill, is true and correct.
McGill, the accused, remains breathing the air of freedom, and continues to boastfully raise high his height, boastfully raise high his voice in every street corner, while seemingly boastfully defying the law against rape.
No doubt, if this rape accusation has been against the poor man in society, his head would have now been buried behind bars with no bread to eat, and water to drink.
In Liberia, the law seems to be set only to penalize, demoralize and frustrate only the poor man who’s already in the custody of Mr. Poverty.
In Liberia, the size, height, weight and length of justice for the poor man can safely be equated to the length, weight, size and height of the needle. Without any tissue of doubt, it’s socially, politically, and culturally disastrous when a group of individuals are only set aside to enjoy the comfort of the law, even though, their deeds may be counterproductive to societal norms.
We’re equally discouraged, and embarrassed like the concerned public over the attitude of the Gregory Coleman-led LNP for giving the accused in the rape case to continue taking a ride over the eagle’s wings. We’re sure has he been a poor man with no title, he will now be languishing behind bars with any mention of DNA test.
We therefore caution the Coleman-led police to desist dragging the law in the mud, as doing so, is tantamount to reducing the strength, weight, height and size of the country the Force supposed to protect.
