Boakai’s U.S. Visit Signals ‘Global Recognition’ … Piah

Information Minister, Jeremiah Matthew Piah, has described President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s current diplomatic visit to Washington, D.C., United States of America, as a major step toward strengthening international partnerships.

Piah said, the President’s invitation will also promote national development and reinforcing the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

He made the disclosure on Thursday, July 3, 2025, while addressing journalists during the Ministry’s regular press briefing in Monrovia.

  1. Piah highlighted the significance of the President’s visit, adding: “Although specific details of the trip remain confidential, it reflects the country’s rising profile on the global diplomatic stage.”

“Pres. Boakai’s presence in Washington is not an ordinary event, because, United States remains the most powerful nation in the world.”

“When U.S. Government host our leader or extend an invitation, it is not merely ceremonial, but a signal of trust, cooperation, and shared commitment,” Piah stated.

He said, such engagements are essential for bilateral development, and must be viewed through the lens of long-term strategic partnerships.

Minister Piah warned against premature speculations surrounding the President’s U.S. engagements.

While official communications on meetings or agreements are still forthcoming, Paih underscored that the country’s inclusion in such high-level discussions signifies a renewed confidence in its governance and foreign relations.

“Every administration has a different diplomatic approach. So, this visit demonstrates that the country is firmly on the radar of international powers. That alone, speaks volumes about the direction we are headed,” he noted.

In a related development, Piah updated the press on key infrastructure projects, highlighting the Boakai administration’s resolve to fulfill long-standing promises.

He spoke of the rehabilitation of ‘critical road networks, particularly those connecting the Roberts International Airport (RIA) to the Freeport of Monrovia; vital arteries for commerce and connectivity.
